So does that mean a 10 year old motogp bike is slower than a brand new ninja250?

no, but thats apples and oranges.

On a quick glace at wikipedia, i realize now that the r7 is not just an upgraded yzf750.

foot is inserted in mouth.

Right. It's a purpose built race-ready bike with lights. They only made the minimum amount required to allow it to be considered a production bike and thus entered in certain race series, IIRC.

It really has no business being on the street, it's a waste.

I'm pretty sure you had to have a racing license or a special hookup to even buy one.

There is a couple that own a dealership near here that have a matching pair of R7's that they ride up at the gap occassionally in their matching Yamaha leathers. It's the gheyest parade of jawesome bikes ever.

With a pipe, a PC, and an air filter thats what my bike would put out, but where that bike really steals the show is the Ohlins suspension all the way around.
