That'll be interesting to hear about.

Rangerscott 06-03-2011 11:49 AM

Man. Theres a youtube vid of this dude putting a turbo on his 650r but he never did an update. Theres plenty of room down there and the 2-1 pipe makes it easy to put a turbo where the muffler connects.

We'll see. I got this for $157. I'm hoping to find a deal on an autotune. I'll just have to drill out a hole and weld in a bung for it since the US model didn't come with an O2 sensor.

Rangerscott 06-06-2011 10:50 PM

Damn. You could have saved a lot here. This guy says it's a direct bolt on swap. Just got to weld on some stops on the lower triple.

http://www.kawiforums.com/ninja-650r...fork-swap.html

Papa_Complex 06-07-2011 05:07 AM

I doubt that I'd have saved anything. The forks would likely have cost me more and I would have had to farm out the welding work.

Make sure that you dyno your bike, before and after. It would be good to have some solid numbers to compare.

Rangerscott 07-10-2011 01:16 AM

Got everything set up yet?

Papa_Complex 07-10-2011 09:21 AM

Yup. The front is an improvement and the rear is a huge improvement.

Rangerscott 07-10-2011 02:23 PM

So you got more cushion for your fat ass?

Papa_Complex 07-10-2011 03:15 PM

I got a spring that doesn't sage to the swingarm, just because I sit on the bike. That was a good start. The Hyperpro has good damping and the steps of adjustment are clearly noticeable in how they affect the ride.

Not sure how I like these damned stock Roadsmarts though. It's been a long time since I last used a sport-touring tire, and I'm used to more grip. They aren't too bad but they sure aren't the BT090s, that I used on my FZR400.

Rangerscott 07-10-2011 03:20 PM

I'm going to stick with soft tires on this bike since it doesn't weigh too much.

Papa_Complex 07-10-2011 04:08 PM

It weighs more than a supersport but I got almost 15,000 Kms on a set of BT010s, on a 480 pound Bandit 1200, so I don't see any problem with this bike and soft tires.

What about that PCV?

Rangerscott 07-10-2011 06:28 PM

Haven't hooked it up yet.

Papa_Complex 07-10-2011 08:16 PM

From the guy who was criticizing the timing of my project

Rangerscott 07-10-2011 11:17 PM

Please. If you want to compare mechanic dicks then whip it out big shot. :lol

Papa_Complex 07-11-2011 08:04 AM

You're pretty much a mechanical eunuch, at this point, since you've got crash bars and levers to my suspension. Get back to me when you've got some mechanicals, son

Rangerscott 07-11-2011 10:28 AM

Im not touching the er6n. I was talking about about my vfr and vehicle.

Papa_Complex 07-11-2011 05:31 PM

Oh, come on now. Gotta have a common benchmark.

Rangerscott 07-11-2011 07:58 PM

I bet I've had more parts off mine than yours poopy face.

Well I haven't had the engine out but I've had it suspended without wheels, forks, bars, shock, and bodywork.

So nyah!

Papa_Complex 07-13-2011 06:05 AM

Nope, haven't had the tank off yet. That's coming up, with the 12,000 Km service. Looks like I've had everything off that isn't under the tank though

Papa_Complex 09-06-2011 05:49 PM

I've posted these elsewhere, but they really kinda belong in this thread. The mods are pretty much done. Just adding turn signals to replace the reflectors on the Givi saddlebags, then putting on a set of barkbusters for Fall riding.

Looks good.

Papa_Complex 10-14-2011 06:34 PM

The Barkbuster "Storm" handguards are sort of visible in this shot.

Just tested the AdMore Lighting LED inserts in the V35 Givi bags and Jesus Christ, but they're bright!

Close ups of.the.hamdgaurds.please. I need some on my vfr during winter.

Papa_Complex 10-16-2011 10:54 AM

Here are a few shots of them. I think that you'd need the single sides bar end mounts and the extra weights, rather than the single sides clamp mounts that I used. Barkbusters doesn't even list anything for the VFR though, so I'd suggest checking with the VFR list first.

Hey papa. I never noticed you had a half tank cover. Just and FYI if you've never had one. They will get dirt under them (mostly top) so I recommend taking it off often and wiping down the tank so it's not scratching up the clear coat.

Yup, that's what I do. I also wax it every time that I clean the tank, to help protect it. I still like the half tank bra better than those stupid stick-on pads.

Rangerscott 01-11-2012 12:21 AM

You know your bike would look a lot better with crash bars. :guf:

Papa_Complex 01-11-2012 06:13 AM

Believe me, I've thought about it. Ultimately decided that I had already added enough weight to it

Rangerscott 01-11-2012 10:17 AM

Tyeres a company that makes nice sliders for us. The mounting on them is nice. Not just a u-bolt, but actual machined mounts that wrap around the frame tube. I believe twistedthrottle sells them.

Do you mean R&G? I thought about getting them, but hesitated. Too bad too, because I've got an order on the way from Twisted Throttle right now.

I should have gotten the ones from Kawi UK, when I ordered my windscreen.

I went with the inner mounts, rather than the bar end ones, because I still plan on mounting a different set of bars.
