I thought E85 was 85 percent ethanol.

Living here in the Midwest I see the E85 fuel at alot of gas stations... Now this trip to Co was maybe 3 or 4 years ago, so my memory maybe a little foggy but i dont remember this 85 octane as E85.. Maybe No Worries can fill me in.. he lives out there

Actually I just did some reading and 85 octane is for high altitude applications(Denver). E85 is actually 100-105 octane... You learn something new everyday. :dthumb:

Tell me about it. The county I live in is the Ethanol capital of the world or something like that. We have a huge ass E85 plant, I just don't know what the hell it is.

I guess because of the thinner air, you can use a lower octane? interesting....

regular unleaded is 4.17 a gallon here. but that E85 shit is 2.99..... kinda makes me wish i would have got a truck that could burn that shit.

Yes because the air is thinner it decreases the overall compression ratio in the engine.

if your truck is relatively new, maybe you can use e85, without much hassle. i know alota hotrod guys said they had to change their tune up alil-its higher octane, but its also ethanol. check it out....
