I always thought a 250 would be fun...

But I never thought it would be this much fun.

I picked this little guy up for my Girlfriend about a week ago and I've got almost as many miles on it as she does. Ripping around town and playing in a few back roads is a ton of fun without too much speeding. As opposed to the 12, which is speeding at pretty much anything over idle. The whole 70MPG thing is nice too since I'm used to getting better milage in my Car than on my Bike.

I was always a fan of Honda, but these Kawis are really growing on me.

RACER X 09-21-2012 06:23 AM

yup the little bikes are getting better and better.

azoomm 09-21-2012 06:31 AM

Yup. My daughters have one. It makes me giggle every time I ride it.

About time.
Just because it's a small displacement bike and often favored by beginners doesn't mean it shouldn't have generous power (for its size), be tunable, adjustable, and have a healthy aftermarket.

*I actually just checked out the new Ninja 300. Wow...I wouldn't mind having one of those.

Turbo Ghost 09-21-2012 07:30 AM

The most fun I've ever had was on my 82 KE100! 11HP Baby!! Like Azoom said, every time I get on it I giggle like a little girl! It's just a hoot to be able to do everything WFO and never worry about a speeding ticket! I rode it in the annual Fun Fest Poker Run for 225 miles with a top speed of 65 on flat land tucked-in tight! As soon as I sat up, 50 was a struggle! Pure giggle fun!

Sean 09-21-2012 11:07 AM

Right on! The girl picked up a TTR that has about 10hp, and I think it's as much fun as anything I've ridden. Bikes keep getting bigger, yawn.

It does look pretty sweet.

My Girlfriend has had a couple of older 500s. That's what she learned to ride on and got her license with. The problem is, she's not very tall and they seemed too big and heavy for her to get comfortable on. With some time on a 250, she might learn to get comfortable on bigger bikes...But if she's content with the smaller bikes, I can see a 300 in her future.

This post is the first I've heard of the 300... I like it. Big bump in power from what I'm reading and in the right places.

Turbo Ghost 09-21-2012 02:24 PM

If I had the money, I would have one and make it a track bike! Then I might actually be able to attend track-days!!

Me too, I kinda want one.

Porkchop 09-21-2012 05:50 PM

I thought about getting one awhile back. I even had one held for me. I'm just too damn big for one, so I got the vf500f.

My brothers friend got the CBR250R. The thing is a thumper of an engine and it looks like a baby Viffer 1200, which I like.

Smittie61984 09-21-2012 10:42 PM

I've seen a ton of the CBR250s around campus. They look awesome!

I wouldn't mind having the CBR 250RR

My neighbour had a CBR125 and recently upgraded to the 250. He's about my size (~6 Feet tall, ~200Lbs). I dont know how he got by with that 125.

Now, that RR is the kind of 250 I would love to have.

Jeebus...that thing is redonkulously loud.
I don't believe you'd be able to give the cruiser guys a hard time for loud pipes any more riding something like that.

Seriously... that's like someone had a D&D on there and said "You know, guys, I'm really liking this new pipe... but do you think we could make it just a little bit louder? I mean, sure, my eardrums are bleeding, but I'm afraid we might not be able to hear it if we're on the road with top fuel drag cars."

For a second, when I first saw it, I thought it was a F1 motor crammed into a CBR600. If I remember correctly, they can get to 20,000 RPMs.

njchopper87 09-24-2012 07:40 PM

I'm tempted to play with one of these after I get a car, or maybe I should just skip the car and go for another bike? I don't like winter though.. hmm..

Probably a good thing they aren't available here. I think it's been well established that bad ideas are well liked on TWFix and a light weight high reving 250 with a mentality of "it's just a 250" would probably result the loss of 3/4 of TWFix.

Trip would heft the lump into a bigwheel and his widow would sell us to VS to cover the funeral

Rangerscott 09-26-2012 11:00 PM

Specs say the 300 weighs the same as the 250 (around 380lbs). Hell. I'd like to see 50lbs dropped off.

The 2013 650r is tits looking but I'm really wanting the ninja 1000. Too bad they dropped the red/black color combo and I'm not seeing luggage options on the 2013. Should I just go with that there will be?

*edit*

HUGH! Wish Kawasaki would have named the ninja 1000 something else. 1 for insurance reasons and 2 for parts searching. Even if you put in the year, you get all the 80's-90's 1000R stuff and even ZR10 stuff.
