Anyone here have any pets?

This is my buddy Manny. He's a two year old Golden Lab. I love him.

And this is where he likes to spend his free time, in the water with his buddy Casey:

The best kind - a mutt

He just showed up one day. He's got terrier and lab in him. He has a perfect mini lab head. It is hilarious. BTW... he is psycho. I think he does crack when I'm not around

Nice pets

I had a dog when I lived with my parents. It was a little inside dog though, but she was hilarious. I want to get another, I really want a sheltie. Maybe after I get a house.

I think she's 75 to 80 pounds now. Her chest is something like 21-22 inches. An XL for the hunting vests.

He sheds more than I was hoping he would since he's an inside dog but if you'll keep him brushed it isn't so bad now. He doesn't seem to shed as much as when we first brought him home either which is a good thing.

The Akita is what I wanted before buying our current home in a residential neighborhood. We started to buy out in the country with more outside room but since we didn't we got the Akita's "mini-me"...the Shiba Inu. They are both from Japan.

The breeders that we bought him from bred Akita's and Shiba's.

Good eye.

It's not the scratching that you have to worry about... it's the biting...

When I bought my snake way back in the day the pet store had a rescued boa that they were trying to save... it's previous owner fed it live and a rat chewed a big ass hole in the side of it... Snakes do not heal very quickly and even a minor bite can turn ugly once infection sets in...

You could always clip their teeth, but that's fucking horrific... I tried it once... It was like nails on a chalkboard only x1,000,000. I moved on to killing the mice immedately before feeding... Thawing frozen ones was too gross...

It's better psychologically, and I don't feed him too often so he's never NOT hungry when i feed him. He snaps it up before it even knows what's going on. Sometimes I also hold it by the tale and he grabs it from my hand. Trust me, I watch closely to make sure he doesn't get bitten. Also, I don't feed him in his tank, that's bad.

NONE_too_SOFT 03-15-2008 07:27 PM

chloroform the little bastards before feeding it to the snake. or cut its arms and legs off and break its jaw before feeding the snake.

Its when they are alive, before the snake constricts it that it can be dangerous.

Plenty of snakes have been fed pre-killed rodents their entire lives with minimal psychiatric treatment required... Further, if you were really worried about the animals psychological well-being, you'd fly his happy ass back to the Amazon or where ever the fuck he's from instead of cooping him up in a cage all the time...

And the problem isn't necessarily that he won't eat it and the mouse bites him... it's that he snatches the lil' guy wrong and/or doesn't get a good wrap on which allows the mouse to bite... If that happens, you cannot do anything except continue watching and let it run it's course...

You can do whatever you want, but I've seen what can happen and it's not pretty...

who the fuck cares about your PETS psychological well being? its an animal, that you keep prisoner in your house for you're own amusement.

Not necessarily because it's an animal... it's more because of what type of animal it is... Snakes don't really have the ability to bond with people the way dogs and cats do...

Monty doesn't snuggle like cats do, but I'd disagree that he doesn't bond in any way.

Mr. Bear doesn't snuggle like cats do either... Snakes, by nature, are not creatures that form relationships.

YEAH! I had a Columbian Boa that loved me! Or he associated me with food and warmth. Just like my bettas, they come running to the side of their bowls when I come close...ok,most if not all pet owners are fooling themselves if they believe that their animals "LOVE" them. They don't. Dog/cats can forget you and "rebond" with a new family in a matter of days! I know,I've seen it myself. They're almost as fickle as people!

I almost bought a snake earlier this winter. Was looking at a gray banded king snake, but decided with being in college i would wait another year or two maybe.

Ok not sure if we had one of these yet...

Here are my cats.

Trip 04-24-2008 09:20 AM

The grey one looks like he is the brains of the operation and the brown one is the stooge.

:withstupid:

The mostly white one has to be the muscle.

Rider 04-24-2008 10:40 AM

The grey one is Jerry, he is the oldest at 14 and the biggest at 18lbs. Jake is the orange cat, he is 13 and is 17lbs. And the white cat is Maggie, she is 12 and only 9lbs. She is a scrapper and can hold her own against the other 2. Jerry is the brains, and the muscle.
