I hate winter!

So there is a horrible thing in my future.

Is it the knowledge that someday I will have to winterize the bike?

NO

Is it that its getting cold and down into the low 30s?

NOPE

They have forecasted actual snow fall this week. Which will bring salt on the roads. Which will conclude my riding season.

How do you make the best of it?

Ride one last day, is how!

Yes that is frost all over the SS

It was about 25* on my way to work this morning
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...AwMTQuanBn.jpg

Added seafoam and topped off the gas on the way home. Did the same for the wife's nightster. Then did a complete service on the Ultra, wife's will be done at dealer (always do the first one at the dealer). Clean both bikes, and polish/wax mine. 8hrs later we are winterized.

Move south?

This was last New Years.

Fleck750 12-09-2009 05:40 AM

Poor baby.

We got 3 inches of snow last night, it's currently 12 fucking degrees out, with 35mph winds. And I rode last Tuesday for the last time this year.

And don't give me no sob story about how I don't know what snow is here in KS. I grew up in A2. :)

My condolances on the onset of winter. Yes, it sucks.

karl_1052 12-09-2009 08:07 AM

Arizona got hit with a snow storm that would have made Apoc jealous two days ago.

marko138 12-09-2009 08:10 AM

I woke up to a couple inches of snow. Sucks.

Only rain in LI/NYC but I went north to work the side job today and theres a few inches down on the roads up here.

I may hold out a lil longer with the buell to try to get out and get some more miles in so I can do the break in oil change. Then prolly put it up foir the winter.

I bought 2 new bat tenders and jus tneed to get some stabil or seafoam.

t-homo 12-09-2009 08:37 AM

We seem to get iced over more than snow covered. Normally stays warm enough during the day it only freezing rain/sleets and then it all freezes into a nice sheet at night.

wildchild 12-09-2009 08:45 AM

15 inches of wet crappy snow last night. bogged down the snowblower and broke my scraper for the Jeep. I hate winter, I used to snowmobile but we don't get enough snow to make that feasible anymore.
Time for house remodeling season I guess. yeah the bike is tucked away for a few months.

Particle Man 12-09-2009 09:15 AM

BRING IT ON! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

See, but its not the cold. Its what the snow does... more specifically the salt. That shit F's everything up.

I'm not saying we have the worst winter here. I'm just saying its sad... riding hibernation has started for me.

About 4 hrs after I stopped riding. While I was in the garage working... it started to snow and we had an inch or two on the ground.

No shit. House remodeling was my gimick last hibernation. This year, hopefully just some wall repair and painting.

How many miles on it now? I put mine away Sunday. I'd recommend Seafoam over Stabil. The Buell didn't seem to like Stabil last year.

Last pic before I put her away...just changed the oil, this was just prior to the bath, you can see the chin fairing is not re-installed. Filthy.

I am at 4 and change right now, if its above freezing I may take it to work saturday so that will be about 80 miles round trip. I also have a little free time next week so I may get out locally too.

I know I am a major disapointment

I woul donly take the bike to one jobsite, an dI dont work there too often otherwise I could easily hit the 600 in commuting miles. At the westchester site I have to ride it through the site, read a lot of dirt, mud and dust, and at the ER there are a lot of low life skells who like to sit on new shiny things that arent theirs and I would hate to go to jail for killing one of them :)

Tom

Gas Man 12-09-2009 09:37 AM

WOW Marko... it looks so much better with the chin spoiler!

t-homo 12-09-2009 09:41 AM

fuck my life its cold outside.

Rider 12-09-2009 10:04 AM

Rain and slush last night. Supposed to get much colder as the day goes on. I was hoping the snow on my roof would melt so I could change out the bad string of lights on the house. Now it looks loke that string may be up there all season. :td:

t-homo 12-09-2009 10:28 AM

we are supposed to get down to 10 tonight. Looks like I'm headed out for my first cold ride of the year.

Cutty72 12-09-2009 01:13 PM

Damn Marko, if that's filthy I'd hate to see what you say about mine! That doesn't look too bad

And I always use stabil, had no issues last year with the 25R.

Called my mom couple days ago, about 3 pm her time. It was about -8 then.

Guess there is an advantage of being here!

Thats semi filthy. I rode to work a few times in the rain when my jeep was in the shop. I did wipe it down once after that...but there was still shit on it. I like to keeps my shit spotless.

No Worries 12-09-2009 06:00 PM

It was 17 below zero this morning. I checked the oil in my wife's car and decided to add a half quart. My garage is detached and unheated. The 10W40 flowed out like molasses.

Back in October, we got 16 inches of wet snow and I was riding two days later. We got 5 inches in yesterday's storm, but only because it was so cold. Wolf Creek Pass, where Drewpy wants to ride next spring, got 54 inches. Last year they got almost 70 feet of snow.

It'll be in the 40's this weekend and I hope the snow and ice here will be gone.

shmike 12-09-2009 06:16 PM

We almost had a record high today.

I went out for lunch; beautiful blue skies, ambient temp was 82*.

You guys can keep that cold noise.

racedoll 12-09-2009 09:57 PM

As soon as the salt goes down I'll be done and I'm sure that will come this weekend.

We have dodged the bullet on LI so far but I dont see that lasting much longer :(

Tom

racedoll 12-10-2009 11:39 PM

Minus the chilling wind gusts, the snow, and the salt I would not ride because the last 20+ feet of my drive (down hill going out) is a solid sheet of ice. No chance in hell I'd be attempting to ride the bike over that.

dReWpY 12-10-2009 11:54 PM

Its 19 degrees, fook that!!

-9F when I came home last night 20F this morning when I walked to work. Before I moved to Alaska I would not have called 20 degrees warm.
