Sylvania SilverStar

Well I can't get a HID bulb and ballast in the small sporty headlamp but it desperately needed a change.

It's also much better on the road. Not bad for $20 I guess.

I have Silverstarts in the CBR and TLR. I've had the same bulbs in the TL since probably 05, and the CBR I've gone through maybe 2 bulbs in 5 years.

Much better than yellow stockers.

Gas Man 10-11-2010 09:07 PM

Exactly.... the yellow was just driving me NUTS!

Hydrant 10-11-2010 09:39 PM

I've had good luck with mine. Other people say they are using a set a year or so. Even put them on my Silverado, and went through one set in the 6 years I've owned the truck (46,000 miles).

I'd like to put HID's in, but just don't really trust myself to go splicing in the the electrical side of it. I don't mind messing with mechanics, just not fond of electric.

I've used the regs and the ultras. They're nice until they burn out. I'm thinking all the vibes from being on a moto dont help things.

I love my cheapo Harborfreight bulbs. They're a tad more wattage.

There isn't any splicing on the new HID setups from DDM. Plug n play. HONEST. As long as you don't want to wire in delays and shit like I did.

Lookin good.

ericr 10-12-2010 09:21 PM

I used a Silverstar on my VTX. HUGE difference from the stock bulb. I'm going to put them on my FZ1 soon. I'm thinking about running higher wattage too, some of the guys on the FZ forum have been doing that with no issues so far but I'm not sure I want to try it yet.

Gas Man 10-13-2010 12:26 AM

If u hv room. Hids are abt $50 a set so abt the same price per bulb. And tt is ultimately a better option.

nhgunnut 10-16-2010 02:21 PM

Did the Silverstar conversions in our Victory's A great up grade for short money

Rangerscott 10-16-2010 08:03 PM

Just an FYI. These on ebay are half of what retail stores sell them. That's where I got my first pair. I think I'm going to order some for my ER6N. White light should really look better than yellow with it.

Trip 10-16-2010 09:14 PM

My headlight went on my brp trip, I went and picked up some of these and will test em out.

Rangerscott 10-16-2010 10:30 PM

Make sure to touch them with your bear hands.

lol

I hear that if you rub them on your genitals if makes them last 3 times longer. Of coarse I didn't hear this till I already installed mine, so maybe Trip can get that gain of expierence!

lol, mine are already installed as well. My bike irritated me too much, so they were in as soon as I got home. The gauges flash LAMPF at you til you change the bulb.

I heard you have to shove them up your ass and leave them there for 5 minutes in order to make them last longer. Something about the complete darkness where the sun doesn't shine gets them accustomed to putting out only the right amount of light for the level of darkness you're in. Trip definitely needs to test that theory.

Rangerscott 10-17-2010 03:45 PM

They have to be on before you can do that.

Gas Man 10-17-2010 04:25 PM

Oh snap. For real ranger? U sure? Cause I think trip did it wrong then.

Rangerscott 10-17-2010 05:12 PM

He did.

You're are suppose to pull out the bulb connector from bike, put new bulb in, turn bulb on for 3 minutes. While bulb is still on, insert into anus, leave for 5 minutes. While waiting, take pic of self, post on bike forum and ask why you couldnt have installed the bulbs instead of doing all of this.

Trip 10-17-2010 05:35 PM

You guys are fucked up.

Rangerscott 10-17-2010 05:41 PM

Missed up and not yet fucked up.
