WSBK round 3 Assen 04/17/11

Considered the greatest circuit in the world, it is time for Assen!! http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/2285/assenlogo.jpg

WSBK is only 2 races done, and it's already been one of the most interesting in years...
--The old guys are whoopin' everyone's ass (Checa 38, Biaggi 39)
--Checa has won 3 of the first 4 races?...Really?...Checa???
--Biaggi slapped Melandri with the force of a little girl
--Speaking of Melandri, he's 2nd if points right now
--Haga, a perennial title contender, is no where to be found during a race
--Smrz, Camier, and Haslam have found a spot on the podium for a race

There's more to talk about...Your thoughts?

Assen is all about speed, fast and flowing. Haga has a good history there and the GP guys have alot of set up know how. Biaggi, Melandri, and Checa will be fast there. Don't know which bike the track favors as Ducati and Yamaha have all had their successes there and dont count out the BMW if Haslam gets his mojo working...

I'm voting dark horse with my man leon camier. His last four starts have been nothing short of heroic and with him now at full fitness? Watch out

I wonder if Ducati is feeling like an idiot for not supporting WSBK this year?

I'll wager Checa gets plenty of back door support. And not just from Fabrizio.

Ducati is gonna wait till he wins the title and then crow about "any privateer team could win on a bike this good" Then they will unveil the 2012 GP12 bike that they developed with Rossi/Burgess and are going to homologate it's sales to compete in WSBK and own the series again...

Rossi ain't developing shit for 2012. Troy bayliss however...

smileyman 04-20-2011 05:14 PM

All Troy is developing is a bad case of arthritis. He'll need a walker to get out to the grid by next year...

Ducati is poised tho to become the Ferrari of bike makers. Sure they will toss a 'Tard or a tourer or a cruiser/poser your way and keep the entry level open with nakeds...But as far as race reps I think they will go whole hog on their 1000cc GP design.

Brandon 04-22-2011 06:40 PM

Checa has factory support.

Monza will be interesting as Biaggi usually runs away because that Ape is so fast on the straights... have to see if Checa can tweak the 1198 to keep up...

anyone notice how insanely planted it was @ Assen? Biaggi couldnt touch him in the corners...

But 1000cc engines again! Shit spinning up and violently hurling riders, just for the fun of it. For science.
