That wreck left fluids down that about killed a local. He's still in critical condition and has a hit list that looks like this:

Fractured skull around orbital area
Missing top 4 teeth
Lip split up to nose
Broken neck
Broken back (again)
2 collapsed lungs
Multiple ribs broken on both sides
Lacerated liver
Busted up kidney
Heaving bruising on right side

Local. No idea on him, wasn't a fatality.

derf 10-18-2012 08:48 PM

That sucks, dude was probably out playing and started sliding without even knowing why

dReWpY 10-18-2012 09:03 PM

who was the local?

Trip 10-18-2012 09:28 PM

Lucky strike gixxer, older guy

If you know the lucky strike bike, you know him

Not putting his name on here

Adeptus_Minor 10-19-2012 08:58 AM

You know, for a guy who just had a motorcycle ricochet off of (oops, I meant 'shatter') his left front quarter panel and now has an airbag in front of him, that guy in the Vette sure looks calm.

My exact thought. Although he was probably looking for a safe exit as it looked like he was heading into a ditch.

And they say guys on cruisers never wave...

He turned into a guided missile once the vette came into view.
Probably said "Fox ONE!" as soon as he saw it.

Heh... I think I got a pic in that same corner... note what I'm doing right compared to that guy... LOOKING AT THE FUCKING ROAD!

This is why I don't like roadside photogs. People trying to "get the shot".

Pffffffffftt

KSGregman 10-19-2012 12:01 PM

Wow....

That was a nice bit of riding.

Ridiculous.

Trip 10-19-2012 02:03 PM

Got word from the corvette guy through a vette forum that the moto guy just had a messed up arm. Maybe broken, but he could use it with some pain.

Glad to hear it.

The bars probably broke/injured his arm at point of impact. The rest of the fall looked pretty tame.

I just realized while typing this, that he was doing his best Nicky Hayden impression!

Hope the guy who hit the fluids later pulls through. That sucks.

I don't feel bad for the cruiser guy. That was just plain dumb. Hell, the 'Vette probably kept the crash from being worse so he should count himself as lucky and start taking the bus.

Homeslice 10-25-2012 12:36 PM

Damn, just saw this.....
Guess that removes the common wisdom of "That dude's older and has hardcases, so he's a real rider"

I agree. Since the photo set up shop on "The Snake" people are a) riding that stretch of road way more often and b) there seems to be a ton more accidents there. I'm not blaming him specifically--there's no way to get real data on it--but it sure seems like everything blew up soon after he set up shop and stayed that way.

Homeslice 10-25-2012 08:04 PM

I heard claims that this photographer waved first? True?

I doubt it... those guys are ALWAYS in the turns and have seen their fair share of wrecks... They are part of that community and know a lot of the riders personally, some of them even ride IIRC. I can't imagine them doing something like that which would endanger people like that...

Sounds like someone with an axe to grind or someone making excuses for their own lack of judgment.

pauldun170 10-26-2012 10:28 AM

Here I am struggling to find places\times to ride where there aren't other folks out on the road able to see what I'm doing or slow up traffic.
Others ride so they can fill up there glamor shots album..
cheesecake is delicious but makes me fart

In the original the photographer waved first but then in the re-release they edited it so the rider waved first.
They should have just left it alone

LOL, no, the photog's only wave at friends, not random tourists that have only been riding for three weeks. Yes, this guy had only been riding that motorcycle for 3 weeks and decided to take a trip to one of the most technical roads in the USA.
