mid TN checking in, never been over to the shady valley area, heard you guys have some good roads

I am LC, just outside K-town. I need to make it up to Shady Valley eventually. My sis lives in Gray.

I SO want to ride Shady Valley. I've heard it's great.

Are they still cracking down there like Deal's? I heard the VA side was really militant.

yeah it's great, and only like 30 mins from my house, yeah like deals gap(the curves and the cops) but for the past couple of months the state has ran out of money or something to pay them any more overtime, so they are slacked off for a little while now

I hit shady on a 300 mile saturday sometimes.....maybe 4 times a year

I like to go early saturdays before the end fills up with attention getters.

Where is Shady Valley? I live in Norfolk and looking for places to check out next spring/summer.

Just outside Bristol, TN/VA.

started riding with a bunch of the older guys from umm well several forums ago living in NC. So im a transplant I suppose. I ride all over the place though, dont get out of the MTN area much. Dont see much reason too. Not a road specialist anymore either. I ride Shady and DG about equal amounts. Although I live and pass thru SV I dont hang out too much anymore.

I am DG local trash. I pretty much just sit on the side of the road with Zee til the tourists go to the hotel and the cops go home and then ride.

I think I have ridden the area... yeah.... definitely. Is that the place that is more towards Boone? Or is it closer to deals gap... I forget which area that was.

Yeah - "The Snake" ? We hit that up three years ago down there for a couple of days, and then over to the gap.

Wish it would quit raining/snowing here so we could get out and ride. DH and I ride about every other weekend when it's pretty. I think we were at the Playground about 3 or maybe 4 weekends ago, just before the cold snap!

doubt there will be too many days to ride this year. Probably gonna be cold and wet most of the winter. Ive already stripped the bike for annual maint. and winter mods. With the Holiday season, wont really get a chance to ride until after the first of the year anyways.

I know I am sad. I think you are right on that. DH rode up on Sunday afternoon (on the DR) to Red Fork Falls until he hit about 4 4 1/2 inches of snow and turned around. N

We have not been up in awhile, but will return as soon as the weather is above 60 degrees

I got the 929 ready to ride mechanically and couldnt take not feeling how she rides with bars on it. So I have been taking little runs up memorial in insulated coveralls. Its just a wee bit too cold if you dont have a massive fairing and some ele heated gear right now.

I am definitely riding suches and shady valley this year.

Sounds like a place I need to check out. I've driven in a cage from Boone to Bristol on 421(I think it was 421) so this is the same area ?

Jay and Lisa from Boone Action Cycles are friends of one of the WOS members, so we had a nice guided tour of all the good stuff down that way.

Anyone form here going to be up at shady tomorrow? Thinking of riding up from Winston on 89 to 58 then over to Demascas and Shady, then back down 421 to mountain city to Boone, then 321.

Not sure if I'm taking the tard or the R1 though

R1 convention in town this weekend. I guess im going to ride out with some locals. Think we are going out Damascus into VA up 16 a ways and back. Meeting at the store at like 10 am in the morning. Hope to so you, been a long ass time.
