Bluetooth/MP3/Pandora???

Ok I bought a new Garmin Road Tech Zumo 660. It has a, yet to be determined, "nice" phone bluetooth setup. It's nice if it works well. I'm unsure about the microphone setup.

It bluetooths with my phone fine, I can make & receive phone calls from the garmin, even see my phones phonebook, and call logs.

It has a MP3 player that works well.

HOWEVER, it won't receive streamed audio data from the phone (ie: pandora) to the garmin.

The motorcycle kit provided with my HD version has an audio out stereo plug that I can plug into my stereo input plug on my radio of the bike.

I want to be able to listen to pandora on my phone and still be able to hear the garmin navigation... all via the same singular stereo input on my bike.

The garmin will bluetooth to a audio headset.
I do have a 3:1 stereo adapter I can run. But that is simply MORE cords!

Is there a bluetooth "junction box" that will have a stereo audio out???? Receive the headset audio from the garmin and bluetooth audio data from the phone (pandora)????

Trying to get this new crap setup and tested before my run south to the BRP & Rally.

I don't think you can blue tooth the phone to two different "headsets" one for the phone the 660 and one to the audio...

I have the 660 as well and that's annoying... but I'm not a huge fan of pandora anyhow.

I put my music on my garmin and play it from there. but I usually listen to Audiobooks on trips anyhow

and ebbs, I thought you had a 550? I'm still looking for a decent used 550...

Nope... can't do. I already have a headset that integrates everything else on my bike.

Trip 08-02-2011 08:41 PM

I have the 550, derf

Gas, you can't use audio on your phone through your garmin to your headset. The garmin isn't capable of that.

My phone isn't cable of differentiating between two bluetooth sources, so I can't have two device connected to it at once to do the phone to garmin, phone to sena, sena to garmin setup. There may be other phones where you can have the audio pairing going to one source and data pairing going to another, but mine isn't capable of that.

Gas Man 08-02-2011 08:58 PM

Yeah I was worried about that as well.

I wish they made a bluetooth interface that would take the audio out of the garmin & the phone then out to the stereo plug.

Sena is making that, it's not available yet.

Bluetooth.

You run everything into it and it lets you wireless to your headset.

Gas Man 08-03-2011 08:28 PM

But I need to plumb into the bike's radio. I HAVE to use my stock headset. It is integrated and works well. I just want to add into it.

What about a bluetooth receiver that would output to a stereo plug?

Get an autocom or any other basic multiple source audio setup.

derf 08-03-2011 08:49 PM

Need a quick answer on this from anyone with a zumo.

Looking at a used 550 tommorrow for $300 comes with all the factory accessories, car mount, bike mount, plugs etc... Is there anything I need to look for as far as functionality?

bluetooth works, unit turns on. You can update the maps and firmware rather easy yourself.

caveman 08-04-2011 07:48 AM

Trip,

How do I update the maps on the 550? I have that one on the HD and the last trip I took had me route around a half mile stretch of road that it thought was not there. When on the return trip that I bypassed its route for the shorter easier roadway it was goin ballistic thinkin I was offroading.

Trip 08-04-2011 07:49 AM

woohoo, just picked up an almost new 550 today for $300. Now I just need to find a motorcycle mount for it.

Trip 08-04-2011 01:43 PM

Try and pickup the stock cradle used, it has power right off it.

cockles have been checked, where are the sub cockles. Is it near the liver? the kiddneys? Or the colon?

Gas Man 08-04-2011 06:51 PM

Spoke to a tech guy from rocketmoto... he's talking kennedy stuff and is going to send me info on it this weekend.

I googled it a bit and I think he's talking about this stuff

Caveman, i'm trying to send you a PM reference this thread but your PMs are turned off. Ask Gas to see the PM that is meant for you.

Email of PM sent

Anybody know of y type adapter that will take 2 audio sources and input them into 1 audio input???

An alternative to the big wiring job I'm looking at.

Trip 08-18-2011 07:02 PM

You need something like an autocom system. Y adapters don't work for inputs.

Gas Man 08-18-2011 09:31 PM

Close but no

http://www.rocketmoto.com/index.php/...n-adaptor.html

Adam from rocketmoto is awesome. This is the dumb down version because the real crazy way started to crest $350. Only real gain for me was phone calls while riding. Not worth the extra $250.

That's not a Y and it's a autocom. You have to isolate the source, you can't Y it like you are talking about. This is basically a two input autocom without some of the boosting/noise cancellation/gadgetry that the more expensive systems offer.

Gas Man 08-18-2011 10:21 PM

Ok sure. But it's not an autocom system. It's actually designed to do what I'm trying to do but intended for autocom system usage.

Actually it is, it has the basic function that you require from an autocom. Just greatly reduced in number of inputs and other gadgetry. Basically an autocom lite.

Think of it like a rebel 250 vs a top of the line all tricked out HD cruiser. You bought the rebel 250, it's seriously underpowered and doesn't have the fancy shit of the HD, but it's still a cruiser.

Gas Man 08-19-2011 08:33 PM

Um... ok. I still don't agree. But ok.

That's nice, you don't have too. Electrically, it's the same concept. The autocom/starcom1/baehr part you need is the input isolation device. That's what this is, that's what you got. It is not a Y device, that won't work. It's different. It isolates each input source.

Gas Man 08-19-2011 10:50 PM

But this is only an assc made by autocom. It's not an autocom system. All this does is isolate it to avoid ground loop problems.

It's still a system that's made by autocom. I didn't say you needed a full digital top of the line system by autocom. I said you need something like an autocom.... Go look at my post. You wanted a Y, you can't use a Y. You need something like an autocom and that's what you bought. If you bought a Y for $90, you should be kicked in the balls. You bought a small input isolation system.

Gas Man 08-19-2011 11:41 PM

No I bought a y with some neat gadget box inline of it.

I suggest you try summers eve, it should clear that up for you. :)
