Riding shoes (not boots)

I'm looking for a pair of riding shoes.

For day to day riding I don't really have anything. Sometimes the boots I feel are over kill and the only other choice is my steel toes that I wear for work, which I get tired of since I wear them daily. I WON'T wear tennis shoes.

I tried on a pair of A* one-o-one yesterday at Iron Pony but couldn't commit to them. They were the only ones in my size (38) to try so I did. Not bad but wasn't in love for $150.

What are some recommendations?

Puma Flat 2's.

Not bad. Might have to find someone that has them in my size to try. I have difficult feet for fit.

Damn that was painful to look at in two ways

1- It was a link from SBN.
2- That foot injury has to hurt like a mofo.

I have the Sidi Rose boots that I wear day to day and it has some ankle protection. They are relatively comfortable, it doesn't make you look like a crazy moto woman but its not something I want to wear walking a lot. I think they may be discontinued but maybe you can still find some left over or on Ebay?

I am thinking of getting another pair of boots as well, maybe doc martens, I would like just a bit more reach to the ground and don't wont' to clomp all around school in Sidi's. They have some on Amazon. com for as low as $50. I am just scared I am going to lose a foot if I go down...

Not really what I'm looking for - trying to stay away from actual boots and these have a heel (which I'm sure I'd get caught on something).
