CF Rally South

So I was wondering about the rally since the site went down. I'm still on for Suches Ga on the weekend of 9 & 10 May of 09. No word yet on Holiday Inn specials, I'm working on it. Does anyone still plan on going other than me? TWFers are more than welcome.

Trip 11-10-2008 02:55 PM

I may be interested in coming hang out for that one. I am not too far and have really been wanting to ride down there.

LittleTaz 11-10-2008 02:59 PM

Hugh and I are still in! :D

derf 11-10-2008 04:16 PM

I'm still planning on trying to make the ride, but I'm not going to make a reservation, I'm just gonna show up and ask whos room I can sleep in. If no one answers I'll bring my tent

RACER X 11-10-2008 05:34 PM

too early for us to commit, but we'd like to make it.

I'd be interested... just gotta see what I can get for time off at the new job. my birthday is the week before so maybe I can use that :idk:

the TWFix rally is a month later at Deals Gap. ya'll should come to that too!

CasterTroy 11-10-2008 05:43 PM

I can't see why I wouldn't come to that :rockwoot:

Ninjakel 11-10-2008 05:48 PM

Very good possibility for Leon and I

dReWpY 11-10-2008 06:49 PM

the rally is more fun then it legally should be, mostly cause the laws are typically broken on the trip...

speed limit? what the hell is that?!

dReWpY 11-10-2008 06:50 PM

and i want to ride with some of you... ebbs your one of them....

i am a slow, cautious rider that never goes over speed limit and never, ever pass on a double yellow, thats just wrong! yaknow

well come April we will... but lets just avoid red lights :kawi:

oh and I think we need to do the coast race... I would have beat trip but he had like a 10 sec lead on me as my Kawi gear box was hate'n neutral

Particle Man 11-10-2008 08:05 PM

I'd still like to actually meet a lot of you.

I spend a lot of time in GA so if it's around a time when I'm there I'll try to make it.

neebelung 11-10-2008 10:32 PM

Hmmm... We're actually talking about planning a Gap trip the week after that, but I wonder if I could get everyone to move it up a week, and do the Rally South on the way up... *hmm*

ericr 11-11-2008 12:34 AM

I'm still in :rockwoot:

Cruzergirl 11-11-2008 02:43 PM

Count me in too, that is, if I have my bike by then! (keep your fingers crossed)

I smell a steaming pile of bullshit and I've never even ridden around the guy

dReWpY 11-11-2008 03:16 PM

that's cause your bike weighs what... 800 lbs... and it has a damn silver back gorilla riding it...

dReWpY 11-11-2008 05:03 PM

438 pounds thank you very much... and yes thats its actual weight as off last June with oil, gas and headlight fluid in it

exactly... include the gorilla and you've got super sonic coasting speeds

ericr 11-11-2008 08:20 PM

Trip, what about putting this in another sub-forum where more folks will see it, where do y'all get the most traffic, off topic or what? Maybe sticky it there and maybe we can have a good turnout.

Just my $.02 :idk:

Mr Lefty 11-11-2008 08:28 PM

most of us just use the "new posts" button... no one here just sticks to a certain sub forum...

don't worry we'll all see it as long as it stays in the "new posts"

Thats how I operate. It usually takes me a minute to go through sub-forums when I go to start a thread since I never use them.

same here...

ericr 11-11-2008 09:46 PM

Cool, whatever works for y'all. I just tend to hit certain subforums on most sites cause I usually don't have time to read them all (you'll see with these CF :pwhore2:'s :D

It would be good to have a big turnout and meet a lot a new folks. Y'all are a good bunch, especially putting up with the invasion.

Trip 11-11-2008 09:47 PM

I added an events subforum in the general section and put it there.

bmblebee 11-12-2008 09:01 AM

I think I could make that journey...where can I find more info?

This is all the info so far. We're working on getting a group rate at a hotel nearby. Amorok is spearheading this and will post info as we get it I'm sure.

rogue 11-13-2008 04:01 AM

I can't commit to anything just yet, but Suches & the Gap is on m list of trips to take this year, except I was going to do both during the same week. Now I have a choice of two rallies at two different times! Decisions, decisions, decisions......

naw I think the plan is to make it ONE rally... :idk:

Archren 11-13-2008 06:04 AM

Not sure yet if I can make it.. I need to find my schedule that says when I have drill in May, because I'm fairly certain they won't let me miss it (given that it's the month before we're scheduled to mobilize). I know Tracy and I would most definitely LIKE to come! :dthumb:

tommymac 11-13-2008 09:26 AM

I have a wedding to go to in may just need to see when that is. I may hook up with derf and take the semi scenic route down so we can earn iron butt patches, and another friend from the NY forum on CF may join us.

Also we will need to set up links for the NE rally in PA. Maybe disco stu can come down and we can have a blanket party

It's not like they're only 2 hours apart, if that. You can do a half day trip from either location to the other

Leon 11-13-2008 12:03 PM

We'll be up in the mountains from the 16th to the 23rd. We'll miss you guys by a week.

we have set dates now?

Oh well, that sucks.

Leon 11-13-2008 02:20 PM

Mr Casey had to pick his dates today. So we (Casey and I) decided on the dates.

well hopefully I can make it then.

Leon 11-13-2008 03:43 PM

Don't you get spring break or something? Or maybe you ada sudden death in the family the same week?

dReWpY 11-13-2008 03:53 PM

so what dates are you thinking/picked?

LittleTaz 11-13-2008 04:04 PM

The last date that I heard was May 9th and 10th. I know they didn't want to do the last weekend in May because of Memorial Day weekend traffic, but if there was a reason for choosing that particular weekend, I don't remember what it was. Maybe Amorok remembers and will fill you in.

dReWpY 11-13-2008 04:06 PM

where is springfield in relation to murfreesboro?

Not during that week, I don;t believe. I may have to attend my grandpa's funeral again.

The other side of the world... It's really about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours west on 24 depending on what part of the 'Boro you're in. My daughter (middle child) goes to MTSU and works at Demos' there, so I'm there quite a bit.

Sorry, I'm still learning my way around and didn't see where this thread ended up. I picked 9-10 May due to general consensus and it seemed to meet everyone's needs. I called Holiday Inn to find out about reserving a block of rooms in Blairsville, they should get back to me by tomorrow and I'll work it out, I expect to have a tentative group rate by tomorrow. Once I have that I'll ask people to confirm if they're coming on both sites, then get the final total, post it, then reserve a block of rooms. Sound good?

rogue 11-20-2008 06:31 PM

Sounds good!
