They ended up replacing the cam, some lifters and the tranny dipstick tube. I'll have to get the paper work from my bro and see exactly whats on it. Since he takes his truck to get the oil changed, who knows why those things went out.

Weird. Why would you not replace all lifters?
Valvetrain issues seem to be more of a Ford thing. (My fleet has about 1200 of them, so I've seen more than a few). It's a fairly common occurence right around 75k.
Never heard of it in a newer Chevy, but not impossible. :idk:

What do the lifters and the trans dipstick tube have to do with one another? I'm confused (just bought an Avalanche with likely the same motor)

Traded it in and got an eco boost.

Let us know how you like it. I have heard mixed reviews.
Mostly, great power, but marginal at best mileage on highway.

So far my bro likes the eco. Pulls the trailer fine. Gets low ro mid 20's, but hes got a heavy foot. Also running 86 octane.

What the hell kind of thread is this?

Ford all the way, best quality of the Big Three. Only reason Chrysler has survived is because of their "thuggish/Peterbuilt-ish" styling that seems to be a hit with the "bros" as well as the "urban" crowd

got rid of my SD350 Dually a few months ago and bought Silverado 3500 with the 6.0 so far it seems to be a great truck.

BTW for the Mopar fans the oil dipstick on my Jeep Wrangler did the same thing. busted right in half when I checked the oil.

Would have gone with another Ford this time but too many "new" things in their trucks plus they didn't want to deal on price. Guess they thought after owning 6 Fords in a row it was guaranteed I would buy another.

Rangerscott 08-19-2013 10:55 PM

Ford has gotten expensive and dealers arent letting off prices easy. Thats why my boss got the chevy cause he was able to make a deal.
