400's!!

So, I've been on a 400 kick lately, gsxr 400, fzr 400, cbr 400, and I think Honda made a nc30? That was a v4 400. I want one of these little fuckers!!! Why are they sooooo hard to find!?!?!

Because they were never imported to America, I see them all the time out here

Actually the FZR400 was brought to America for '89 and '90. I had the black '90 and it was an amazingly fun bike. I wish I had it today!

I'd be willing to bet we'll start seeing them if the 300 Ninja takes off...

I did just see an ad for a Bandit 400 recently... looked pretty fun.

Dnyce 11-21-2012 11:05 AM

I was under the impression they were imported here, just in small numbers. Guess that explains that. Even tho dimensionaly they are near identical, The ninja 300 lacks the character the gsxr400 or of the Honda, and it's a twin. I did find a 90 fzr 400, but it was a track bike.

Mike-since u see them all the time, what are the prices like over there?

The Kawi 400's and the Honda NC30/35's usually run around $3500, give or take a thousand. Friend of mine just sold a '89 TZR250 for a grand. I've seen a NSR250 for sale for about 4k, but I bought the 929 instead.

I'm completely down with that. I have some big power missiles, but more often than not, they're more a handful than they're worth. A 400 has plenty of power to use on the road while still being fun and not a hindrance.

My friend had an old SR500 with premium suspension and tires. It was amazing going around corners; it looked almost horizontal. Especially going downhill. Uphill was a different story.

I'm never on a highway, just two-lanes. When I'm going uphill behind a slow car or 3-ton suv, and only have seconds to pass, I want gobs of torque right now. Liter bikes deliver it.

MikeSP1 11-28-2012 03:51 AM

There's no doubt that a liter bike has the cajones to deliver when you want it. For "most" people though, a liter bike has more performance than they need/want/can ever attain. They also have a MUCH bigger participation fee than the 400-500 cc crowd.

njchopper87 11-28-2012 10:38 AM

I'd love a 400/500 to play around on. It'll be a while before I can (or SHOULD) attain anything though.. pesky car.

I went the complete retarded opposite end of the spectrum and bought a gsxr 1k lol
