Suomy SPEC-1R Hodgson Laguna Helmet

Anyone have any experience with this helmet/manufacturer? I am thinking of getting this helmet for the upcoming season.

Welcome. Suomy makes some of the lightest and best helmets on the market. I have one and I love it. You won't be disappointed.

I currently own a Shoei RF 1000. How does the Suomy compare to that. Also i have been hear that the Suomy helmets are very loud if you are riding over 70mph.

Just make sure it fits your head!

It fits my head very well. I tried it on at a local shop but they do not let you take the helmet for a test ride.

O and thanx for directing me to the new forum.:rockwoot:

:rockwoot: is what I do every time I try on a new helmet... just to make sure it's not going to move around...

yeah good idea... though the only shop that would ever let me "test ride" any gear was in AK... all the cali shops looked at me like I was fuck'n insane!

Suomy and Shoei are on the same level of quality- really, really good. Little different headshape.

I can't comment on that. I wear earplugs so if it is loud then I don't notice.

Suomy makes a badass lid, wore my friends very very light.
rf1000 also nice but heavier.

t-homo 03-03-2008 02:31 PM

That looks awesome. I can only hope that when I start looking for a new, nicer helmet that Suomy will make one that fits my head.

Rider 03-03-2008 02:34 PM

I'd rock that helmet. :dthumb:

I heard they have low horizons on 'em. Meaning, if you're leaned over good and you're looking through the turn, you see the top of the eye opening on 'em. One of my buddies who had one agreed and Cycle Gear let him trade it for a Shoei.

My husband has that helmet. It is the lightest helmet I've EVER worn/lifted. I mean, LIGHT. And, no... not loud. Well, not compared to the others out there... not more loud. I will tell you, that particular model has glitter in the stars. I give him crap about it all the time.

My Suomy doesn't have glitter...

They are extremely light and very very comfortable. I won't ever buy another brand of helmet.

I'd rather have the Bostrom, personally. And the Extreme is a better lid.
