HRC goodies and preventative maintance

This weekend was full of fun and cookies...

and cussing and spitting and more cussing, and frustration...

decided to put the soft rev and hrc throttle kit on as well as pull the forks and put new valves in...

first off the place i ordered the parts from got them to me from cali in less then a week, and was great to deal with. the throttle tube came with instructions that he personlly typed up, and the soft rev kit came the same way. the soft rev took all of 2 mins to complete, the nice thing the guy puts his personally phone number on the bottom soif you have any questions, you can call him any time, and at 7pm on a friday night he picked up and was more then helpful.

the throttle tube was a whole 'nother story. the part worked great, but tearing apart a the airbox from the throttle bodies was damn near impossibple since the breather hoses under neither have such tight clearances. with the tank off you have to loosen the throttle cables, pull the ends off of the throttle bodies, take off the old tube, replace it with the new tube after you grind down the ends of the cable to fit the new tube, and reinstall the throttle cables on the throttle bodies.... easier said then done, it took about 2 hours of coaxing the calble back into the throttle body since the slack has been taken up by the larger tube, and putting the air box back on was another 1 hour project in and amongst its self.

the forks slide right out, and took the guy like an hour or so to do it, after watching him, there really isnt much to changing the seals, even though all it cost me was a case of beer, i might try to do this myself next time.

went with yamalube 01 10w fork oil if any one gives a damn, the guy at the shop swears by it

so thats why i havent been around this weekend, did i miss any shit?

What's the soft rev do?

dReWpY 03-04-2008 11:36 AM

the rc 51 has two rev limiters, on at like 9.6 and another at 10.5 or 11.5 cant remember. but this like trick lets you over ride the first "soft" limiter because all it does is cut out the back cylindar, so the bike still revs but it stops making power

no one knows, a guy that is close to honda said its not for any protective any reason, like reving it wont blow it up, my guess is for safety to new riders and gas milage, other then that :idk: i think its worth a more then a few ponies too

How much was the peice?

dReWpY 03-05-2008 09:58 AM

$10

dReWpY 03-05-2008 10:01 AM

the thing is super simple, its a oem wire and end piece that slides into on of the plugs and you take that wire and splice it into another on the other plug with a safeyloc connector, super simple and since he used a oem harness and just took out all the wires from a new oem plug it is just as dependable as the stock wiring, some kits use just audio cable but that doesnt have the water proof collar the the oem piece does
