$1800 for just 6 months. WTF?

So I was going to go look at a new '14 Ninja 1000 with hard bags. Called my ins. lady and progressive wants $1800 for 6 months full coverage. So if I put the bike on a 4 year note, Id pay more than what I would pay for the bike.

Progressive was extremely high for me as well. I went with Geico after switching from Statefarm. When the car policy expires I'll check back with Statefarm again. I also opted out of comprehensive and collision for the new bike.. ('15 CBR 500). They want way too much for that shit.

Looed at gieco and dairy but still high.

State Farm is pretty good - I bundle my house, 4 cars, and the multi. All together it's 300/month for the 4 cars (2 full coverage) and the bike. The multi is 27$/month of that 300 with full coverage.

Progressive fucking sucks. I've never heard of anyone getting a good deal on bike insurance through Progressive. Never. I have however, heard of people who thought they were getting a decent deal, only to find they could save hundreds (even $1k+) switching to someone else. Don't sleep on your local ma and pa insurance either... but, for my money, State Farm is really hard to beat.

I've never had anyone be able to get close to what I pay for full coverage through Geico. I'm paying $400 a year.

That frickin Ninja 1000 is absurd on insurance. I looked at buying one and the insurance turned me off. I looked when I was 23 and I had companies quoting me at 7, 8, 10 grand a year. You might as well run it off a cliff after 1 year and get a new bike. Kawasaki fucked up with putting the ZX in the VIN#. But when you quote the Z1000 its less than half the price...

Yea, I found that out. I did a quote with allstate and got it down to $100 a month. Still too much for my taste.

I have my house and truck tied to one company but they dont do bikes so thats why I have progressive on the vfr. Its only $77 a yr for liabilty.

Then the manufactures blame us for not buying them and they stop making them.

I have recently put all my policies with Auto Owners. Their rates were F'in awesome when I had the house, regular cars/trucks, stated value stang, and stated value Harley. Plus the ability to put the stang and harley to storage during the winter months.
