Cop fired after waitress poses with rifle on car

3 other deputies suspended after photo session outside ‘flirty’ Texas eatery
Video

MIDLAND, Texas - A Texas sheriff fired one deputy and suspended three others without pay after a scantily dressed waitress holding a rifle posed for photographs on the hood of a patrol vehicle.

Police said Round Rock officers were dispatched to a restaurant after someone reported the waitress with the weapon, which had been given to her by one of the Midland County deputies who had been attending a training session near Austin.

The incident occurred last week in the parking lot of a Twin Peaks restaurant, which promotes its "fun, friendly and sometimes flirty atmosphere!"

The deputies told Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter that they had about three to five beers each.

A fifth deputy who remained inside the eatery got a letter of reprimand

In Texas? I'm surprised he got fired.

We usually have our local bike night at Twin Peaks. I like it better than Hooters.

Not surprised he got fired over it, but don't agree with it.

Why don't you agree with it? It was a bonehead move and now he's paying the consequence. :idk:

Because I don't see any harm or abuse or power in it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not up in arms about him getting fired.

But why would an officer let someone else have thier weapon? I don't see it as an abuse of power but rather a retarded thing to do. :idk:

Because it made for a cool picture and he possibly wanted to get laid by the cute Twin Peaks waitress? Its not like he turned over his only weapon to a raging crackhead, it was just a quick photo op. No harm, no foul IMO.

The cop had 4 or 5 beers in him.

He shouldn't have been handling a gun in public let alone passing it around to wannabe Hooters girls in an attempt to score.

You're right. My bad, I missed the last part of the story since it was below the ad. He definitely should not have been in any way handling a fire arm after an admitted 3-5 beers that's probably more like 6-7 anyway.

The story should have read "Drunk cop handles firearm in public"
