Ever have something fly off your bike?

I mean, as your riding along, passing traffic. Something comes loose and flies off. I did on my trip. It just happened to be at 90mph while passing a few bikes on the way out of Wyoming.

You win extra points if you can guess what it was that flew off...

hand guard thingy????

Homeslice 08-15-2011 09:02 PM

My bike cover. It was balled up and bungie-corded to the passenger seat. Shit came undone and inflated like a parachute. Lucky as hell it didn't fly onto someone's windshield.

Other than me... No.

Whole right fairing on my hurricane blew off accelerating past one hundred once. Little spray paint and some zipties prevented any repeat performance

A friend has a 636 that his coworker accidentally knocked over into a parked car. It cracked the front and side fairing where they meet. He drilled some holes and zip tied the thing together. I was riding behind him once and the air pressure made the plastic and zip ties fail. I had a chunk of plastic and broken zip tie come flying at me. Just cleared my right shoulder.

I know many guys that had their solo seat tail cover fly off. Especially those gsxr's.

When I had my F2 I had what was pretty much the whole right lower fairing rip off at night on I-95. I didnt even notice until I got off the highway.

Add one more to your list but on my TLS

fasternyou929 08-16-2011 11:33 AM

I used to take a lot of long trips on my 929RR. On one, my backpack apparently came unzipped and I unknowingly spread my belongings along I-196 for miles. Various clothes, cologne, tooth brush, shaving gel... I guess when one of the shirts took off it carried most of my bathroom stuff with it. The next fuel stop where I realized what happened was... unpleasant.

And it wasn't off my bike, but I had a fairing fly off an R6 and try to remove me from my bike a couple years ago.

KSGregman 08-16-2011 11:38 AM

So spill it, Zoom....what flew off your bike?

azoomm 08-16-2011 12:35 PM

My SPOT GPS tracker...

I lost my rear cowling once. I didn't have it latched down quite right and off it came. I fortunately had an inkling it might and saw it go. I immediately stopped and picked up. Not a scratch.

marko138 08-17-2011 11:20 PM

Batman wrist band I was using as a reservoir cover.

Rangerscott 08-18-2011 10:25 PM

Mr Lefty 08-19-2011 06:21 AM

the rain covers for my coretech saddle/tail bag. oh... and me

OneSickPsycho 08-19-2011 10:23 AM

Actually, shit, I forgot... I lost my license plate one time... Someone pulled up beside me and told me... I pulled over on 270 and walked about 3 miles back and found it... full gear... 90ยบ heat... no median... semis and shit zooming by within inches... Not fun, probably should have just left it.

Kaneman 08-19-2011 11:14 AM

I lost a dozen eggs and a heated vest once.
