The best gloves money can buy

Sold my GP pros (never broke in the way I expected... fit wasn't quite right). Got a pair of held phantoms. They live up to the hype. AMAZING quality. I understand now why soooo many racers run these gloves. They are the shit.

Also grabbed a pair of teknic speedstar knee pucks to replace the shitty chicane ones that came with my pants... they were very thin and initially I didn't have them positioned quite perfectly and one time my leather touched and the edge of the puck, instead of the puck face itself and I almost crashed... These are nicer.

Those gloves are sick man. Nice buy

Rider 03-05-2008 07:51 AM

Held are some seriously nice gloves. Best in the business from what I've read.

DLIT 03-05-2008 07:54 AM

I wish there was a place arund Vegas where I could try them on first. I'm gonna be going all out on some sick gloves when I get back.

NeonspeedRT 03-05-2008 08:26 AM

I will have a set of Held Phantoms one day. I heart them.

marko138 03-07-2008 05:10 PM

Good to hear they are as good as people say.

NONE_too_SOFT 03-07-2008 05:23 PM

gj chris. you think you'll be able to get out soon.

vabarber2 03-07-2008 07:18 PM

Just go by measurements... worst case, you have to do an exchange. Held's sizing is very specific and you just need to measure your hand. If I were you, I would err on the side of smaller if you are between sizes, based on the fitment I got.

I got mine from sportbiketrackgear... they list for 295, STG sells them for 280, I got them to give them to me for 230. I think I got a great deal.

Yeah dude, my plan is to finally get out tomorrow. The bike could use a good run, and I REALLY could use one.

The pucks look like they'll be great. Just replacing them on the pants I can tell they will be mo' betta.

You can see in the bottom right of the old one how sharply they were wearing (I flipped them 180 degrees when I moved them to fix the position) and the scuff on my knee from when it touched down on the track. Pucker moment!!!!! I think some of this might have to do with my short legs and the R6's high peg height, even on the stock rearsets. Notice how I even trimmed some velcro off the chicane ones to move them up more. Comparing the two (camera phone pics, sorry):

Good looking pucks. I'll probly get a set of those when the 2 pair I have now wear out.

Yeah, I like the looks. And the teknic logo is set all the way through the puck so it will remain there even after lots of kneedragging.

I didn't get a knee down when I rode today, there was too much sand and salt. I am anxious to see how they slide and what feedback they give, though. Maybe next ride.

DLIT 03-11-2008 03:12 AM

Those pucks are ceramic, right? Those'll last longer than your old ones.

Mr Lefty 03-11-2008 03:27 AM

nice... what pants are those?

t-homo 03-11-2008 04:33 AM

He has chicanes. Good lookin gloves man.

marko138 03-11-2008 09:49 AM

I've got a set of Buell pucks too...but they look just about identical to the Chicane pucks. I dont expect them to last long.

I'm guessing a couple years, unless you start riding more!

marko138 03-11-2008 11:27 AM

What did you pay for these gloves?

Edit: NM...I see above.

jalaan1 03-11-2008 01:06 PM

Chicanes... killer pants for the money. Only thing is the zipper runs the opposite way of many brands of jackets... I had my jacket zipper reversed.

You can get the chicanes for aroun 175. If you're a fatass, I just found them at newenough closeout for 140, killer deal:
http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/l...cle_pants.html

I looked at those a10's, and they're def a* low-end model... a lot of textile on there... and don't come with pucks... but it's your call.

I would get the chicanes. I'm not sure, but I THINK the zipper zipped counterclockwise when I got them, and had to reverse it. Not sure, though. If you have an agvsport or joe rocket jacket, it's the opposite direction of those... those are the two jackets I have...

I'm pretty sure you are right. They zip counter clockwise.

*Best* is a subjective word.

These are my gloves... Spidi Penta Sport Race gloves. Worth EVERY penny. We jokingly call them Bayliss gloves as they clip your pinky to your ring finger. I want to buy a few extra pairs just so I don't have to try and find them in the future...

Oh, and don't let the price freak you out - I paid less than that.

Well you might have to pay more like 175 for the chicanes... but still, even for that price, they are a great deal. Marko will say +1 to that as well. Teehee.

I wouldn't wait. The chicanes are already a great bargain at 175ish considering the quality... the only reason I found them a day or two ago for 140 is because they were for larger waist sizes. If you're a 30, 32, or 34, just buy them at 175 and be done with it.

cause money is kinda tight right now... (military screwed up my pay) and I'm trying to get everything I need for the Indy trip squared away... theses aren't a necessity for that trip... really... I don't think I'd even take them if I got them... not like I'll be drag'n a knee on my 13 state jaunt.

I'll wait... but thanks for the heads up :dthumb:

Fair enough. I can certainly feel your pain about current monetary issues... I'm in a similar boat.

So do you have some touring textile pants or draggin jeans or something already?
