Tach Trouble. Its bouncing all over the place

So i just got home from Vacation and i took the bike out for a nice ride. Well i noticed that the Needle is bouncing all over the place. I was not really worried about it affecting the bike but im wondering if there is an electrical problem or if the sensor is messed up and if i need to replace it. It ran fine prior to my vacation but i did just have it taken all apart and cleaned it really good so i guess its possible that i could of loosened some wires up. What do yall think?

My tach does weird shit when the battery is weak (even when the bike is running)

Ground!

Yeah, I was thinking bad ground, too.

So i should check the ground first and if that doesnt work maybe get ready to replace my battery? and if that doesnt work then the sensor? It doesnt seem like any of the lights flicker or anything else is going on with the bike. everything electrical except the tach seems to be just fine.

Sportbikeitis.

It's fully-fared. Wrapped in a blanket of prophylactic plastic that has been sanitized for your protection.

Mean while, in the Bat Cave, your ten year old electrical connectors have been gathering unpronounceable bits of scaly crud.

Clean them with some contact cleaner.

Lube them, with some DIE ELECTRIC GREASE!

This, as have been mentioned, also applies to grounds.

All of them. Look harder.
