Something like that - if they're looking to be picky, lots of not-too-nice stuff happened in Greece a couple thousand years ago...

You're thinking of the Romans. Though Jersey Shore going there probably evened everyone up a bit.

Yeah, I'm thinking of them under Roman rule for the most part, though I vaguely remember there being other pre-Roman wars where the Greeks weren't exactly the paragons of peace. I will have to crack my old history books and see.

You have the Greco-Persian wars (what 300 is about) but that was mroe defensive on Greece's part.

Alexander the Great also but he was actualy Macedonian (or something like that). But he really really realy wanted to be Greek and conquered it so he could become Greek. The Roman's also wanted to be Greek too but kept Greeks as slaves (highly valued slaves).
