I can vouch for the bike...I sold it to him and have the maintence records here. The bike was just in for the 12k mile service and it was 100% perfect...not one valve needed adjusting.

Check the charging system. Chances are that it is either your regulator or alternator...from what I read in the OP it sounds like the alternator. Usually if its the regulator the battery...

I've got a more then a few miles under my belt on...

I've got a more then a few miles under my belt on one. By far and away my favorite Duc. It isn't the same as the 1198 in the fact that it is a 1098 engine. I have personally ridden both bikes before...
