I mean, if the point is to be able to listen to music while you're riding, don't quality earbuds do a MUCH better job of delivering decent sound-quality while cutting wind/road-noise? I'm sure they (open speakers) sound decent at low-speeds and behind a full fairing, but there still has to be a ton more noise than with isolating earphones. Well, in most states including Michigan, wearing earphones while riding a bike is illegal as you are probably going to be unable to hear sirens around you. However, I guess I could have my stereo turned up so loud that I wouldn't be able to hear sirens near me as well. But, at least I am not breaking the law.
And lately I have only been really jammin it loud enough for everyone around me to hear just to spite the neighbors because I think its funny. I fully intend to keep the extra loud jammin exclusively on the highway where I want to drown out the wind noise with some noise of my own.
