They ended up replacing the cam, some lifters and the tranny dipstick tube. I'll have to get the paper work from my bro and see exactly whats on it. Since he takes his truck to get the oil changed, who knows why those things went out.

Weird. Why would you not replace all lifters?
Valvetrain issues seem to be more of a Ford thing. (My fleet has about 1200 of them, so I've seen more than a few). It's a fairly common occurence right around 75k.
Never heard of it in a newer Chevy, but not impossible.
