Very nice house for the price, even with the work it will need. 2 questions:

1. WTF happened to the garage door?

2. What is going on with the ceiling in the family/living room? Is that the drywall tape curling/separating?

Good luck with the renovations - it may be alot of work but it's also alot of fun to watch it transform (and hopefully add some resale value for you in the long run).

I've seen them in some 50's/60's homes, but I didn't know they were still doing it.

*nevermind... after a quick Google search, I found a half dozen companies that sell the systems and claim they're a common thing in "modern" homes.
Must not be popular around here... I haven't seen it mentioned in years.

After having had both, I would choose wood, laminate or tile over carpet any day. Seeing the gross when ripping up carpets in my last house did that for me, and knowing that even if my pets arent having accidents on the floor, between the dirt they track in even when we wipe their feet and the hair they shed I can see when I dont vacuum every day (granted when I am lying on the floor), and the dirt we humans track in and around, I would NEVER want a kid crawling around on that. *shudder* We moved into a new place Wednesday thats mostly laminate and tile floors and its fabulous. If you arent a huge fan of the hard floors, get rugs!

Carpet all day every day. Fuck hardwood floors.

Yep - they are pretty popular in places around here with hard wood floors and pets. There's usually even a port in the garage for cleaning out the cars.

I'm having one put in my new construction.
