It makes sense to pay for the same job in a different city IF that city has a higher COL.

And I'm not sure that the average Californian thinks that they are a better person......Rather, that they think they live in a better place, and are bragging about it.

It's pretty common knowledge that Californians are directly affected by the massive amount of smug in the atmosphere out there.
