Billy Lane jailed for six years over bike death
"Biker Build-Off" star loses driving licence for life after causing death of motorcyclist

Posted: 19 August 2009

A WORLD FAMOUS custom motorcycle builder has been sentenced to six years in prison and three years probation for causing the death of a biker in a road crash.

Billy Lane, who has appeared on the Discovery Channel's "Biker Build-Off" also had his driver's licence suspended for life, after he crashed into motorcyclist Jerry Morelock while overtaking on the wrong side of the road. Police say Lane's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash, which took place in 2006.

The judge also ordered that Lane undergo random drug and alcohol testing upon his release from prison.

But him loosing a license more or less means no more car or bike rides. Guess he will make bikes and have someone else ride them.

Thats still prety light considering he did kill someone.

RACER X 08-19-2009 10:47 AM

i bet he'll get an occupational license when he gets out 2 yrs from now.

Or ride without a license after his probation is up...

His new doo:

wildchild 08-19-2009 12:32 PM

the license won't even slow him down a little I would think.

6 years seems like a small price to pay for taking a life.

One less douche on the streets.

Welcome to last week!

derf 08-19-2009 06:03 PM

He deserved more jail time, although the lic thing is a good start. I will bet any amount that he will some kind of partial lic when he gets out.

Krypt Keeper 08-24-2009 06:19 PM

could he move to Europe or something and get a license there to drive again?

I would think that with parolle that he would have a real hard time leaving the country.

While I dont feel one bit sorry for him, it kinda frustrates me that they were so much harder on him than many others who have been done the same.

I remember the same thing happening many times, and usually its 3 months jail and a short suspension, or some other ridiculous sentence.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying he should have got less, the thing is, why isnt everyone else who kills someone drinking and driving getting the same?

Ding.

I had this conversation with a friend earlier (after I saw this thread), and she said 'Oh, but its worse cuz he's a biker himself'... She owns a sportster 1200, and for some reason, feels that bikers should be more responsible.

I quickly explained, that 90% of bikers, as well as 90% of famous people, and 90% of regular people, are idiots. One idiot should be punished the same as the next.

She agreed partially, because she's a woman and see's a need to be at least partially right, even when she isnt.

Maybe on civil charges, but I doubt the victim's family gets any real say in the criminal matter.
