scan ID for beer and cigs/dip
 

anybody heard this?

vs currently they visually check your ID, retailers are supposed to start scanning your ID for these "age appropriate " items.

It's been happening for years.

The date on the front is easy enough to change.

The encoded data: not so much.

It wouldnt surprise me in the least.

I made a duplicate lic for my brother which he used from when he was 18 until he tuned 21, they have been scanning them around here for a while now.

Thumbprint scans.

asked workmate about this, he just went to disney FLA (within 2 mos) , he didn't recollect these thumbprint readers, where were they?

They do it to get into bars around here.

some bars around here do it.

It seems half and half here.. some places type something from the license into the register, but a lot still just visual check.

They do the fingerprint thing at the Universal parks.

There was one gas station that scanned ID's when I was in college but there machine kept breaking so they hardly used it. But they scanned mine and my roommates one time.

Are all states putting magnetic strips on DL's now? MI does but when I lived in CA and WA they didn't have them.

I'd guess most states have gone that route by now.

FL went from the old laminated license to the cc-like license about 12-15 years ago.

I've had a DL for 8 years (in CA) and have always had a magnetic strip on mine. :beers:

There is only one bar (that I know of) in town that does this. Being a big college town I am surprised more places don't. :idk:

WA was 9 years ago and CA was 18.

Not that I have anything to hide from the authorities, but I'd rather the establishment didn't have my mailing address.

If they set that up in the college towns, the bars are going to go out of business.
