French Bulldogs

Anyone have any knowledge of this breed?
|
they say "le woof, le woof"
it's annoying. oh, and they run away a lot. |
they're very cute pups, very playful and not as prone to disease as an english. not nearly as large either. we looked at a couple because the girly wanted an english but didn't want all the diseaase problems.
not bad for price but not free to a good home either. ones we looked at were right around a grand. lots of info on the net about them. |
I've done a lot of research on them. I've been researching for a few months.
At this point I'm looking at getting a rescue dog. Aside from liking the idea of helping out a rescue, I don't think a pure puppy situation would be the best where I live. |

not that is a dog.
|
I wonder if they call them 'french pitbulls' because they look like dumb, little bitches!
|
I love them! They are like pugs with bat ears. I researched them briefly, they should be pretty mellow. Kinda of like pugs but with more dignity.

Were they out of cats?
|
I've always wanted an English bulldog. They are so cool looking, always chilling. But super expensive. Instead I've got an insane Lab who rarely calms the fuck down. Always on edge and ready for battle.

Momma frenchie is passed out in the back  |
That looks like a cross between a boxer and a rat. :lol
|
this is z, but i'm too lazy to log Ed out.
@ video: u sure he's not having a seizure? LOL @ org. ?: they are related to boston terriers. my bostons have NEVER calmed down. never. i have a distant friend (more a friend of a friend) who has a frenchie. super cute super SPOILED (that may make a difference) dog. good dog but high maintenance. will have same breathing issues as all flat faced dogs (remember to not over heat them) and possible hip/leg issues. they are very expensive, which is why i'd be careful of adopting them too. imo, anyone who can dump money on a $1000 dog just to dump it at a rescue place has to either be at their wit's end over a monster dog or has ruined a dog mainly because they just had too much money to blow. kwim? |
Good points Z!!!

i took care of an ex-gf's french bulldog for a few months - i loved that thing. i should have taken it with me when i moved, since she never took great care of it. anywho, they're awesome dogs, with a few caveats - they fart like their lives depend on it. and it reeks. they also snore so loud your bed will vibrate (maybe a plus if you like vibrating beds). if you can deal with those 2 things, you'll prob be very happy with them. they're a ton of fun, playful, friendly, and have kind of a funny personality to them.
oh, as mentioned, extremely expensive (as in, several thousand dollars from a reputable breeder), but if you're rescuing, you'll save a big chunk. here are a few pics of Marley, the dog i took care of. while i couldn't give a rat's ass about the girl  i still wonder what happened to him... |
Last night I was at a pet store and I got the chance to meet a Frenchie.
And now, well I need more information before I decide on this breed. He was certainly cute but very hyper. I wonder if he was just hyper because of where he was at or if he's always like that. :idk: And the build of him wasn't quite what I want. He was too muscley. Now I'm thinking miniature schnauzer as another possibility. Hmmm. We'll see. |
(z again)
I had a min sch. growing up. Was by far my fave dog of all time. Only problem is frequent grooming. |
Well I had originally wanted a min. schnauzer but then got side tracked with the frenchie.
What I really want is a West Highland Terrier but I just don't think that breed will fit with my lifestyle. The other thing is that I want a dog that will be good track side. I'm afraid if I got a dog like a Westie or a Shih Tzu the guys would be punting my dog when I was out for sessions. :lmao: |
