Naked in America

Haha, sorry... not what you guys were thinking. Get your minds out of the gutter. This is a spin off of Lee's thread

So, are naked/bikini faired bikes rising in popularity in America??? I know in Europe, naked bikes are vastly more popular than here. But in recent years, manufacturers have been coming out with more and more nakeds.

This thing interests me enough to be my next bike.... :rockwoot:

From experience, cleaning/detailing one is a bitch. Especially with hard water.

I've always liked the nekkid bikes. That's why I bought the SV. I split the difference with the half fairing for wind protection.

Yes about that last bit. The Z1000S is the tits, but would be wayyy too much bike for my next bike. Seems like there is more plastic on the sides than the normal Z1000 though...

I havnt read into it yet, does it have the GSXR 750 motor, or the bandit motor?

marko138 10-08-2010 08:07 AM

That Kaw is uglier than shit. But I sorta like that Zuk. Whats the model?

ontwo 10-08-2010 12:27 PM

Man that Kawi is badass. But the SV is my last nekkid bike.

Then you are doing it wrong. It takes me much less time to clean my Speedy than it did my fully faired bikes.

Soft rag for the normal parts with quality car soap, Simple Green sprayed all over the naked bits, then rinsed clean with hose FTW. After my final rinse, I take the leaf blower to the bike and blow dry it. Clean and lube the chain and some spray polish on the painted parts and she's ready to go.

Particle Man 10-08-2010 02:12 PM

Leaf blower is a good idea... Hmmm...

Yeah, because reviews are the Gospel.

According to the review written in Dirtbike magazine my WR250R is about the worst piece of shit out there. I, along with many, many others happen to think it's the best damn thing available on two wheels right now. whatareyagonnado?

Good. Almost everything that gets shitty reviews I like.

Movies
Cars
Food
etc.

Screw critics. I can make my own choices.

So true, I'm the same way.

All my bikes have pretty much been naked except for a ZX6D I had way back when. I'll probably switch over to dual purpose though if/when I get back on two wheels.

Critics are just that... critics. They always have to find the bad in things....

Exactly.

nhgunnut 10-16-2010 02:40 PM

I have just started looking for my next bike, and because of my B King I am leaning toward a 1 liter naked of of some kind. I Lust for a Streetfighter (I can get one for 13k) but taxes and insurance have me holding back Tuono is my second choice at the moment with a Benneli TNT and a Speed Triple in third. I went and looked at the FZ1 just today and will try and see the Z1000 next week. Just not sure I want another I4

Already on the showroom floors...

Rangerscott 10-16-2010 09:52 PM

Was at the dealership getting oil and sat on the Z1000 again. When sitting on it, the tank and front is just HUGE. The top of the tank is wide and you just see/feel this massive engine up front. Made my penis fill 6in bigger.
