Wisconsin finally gets a clue

And people say Cali is fucked up? Wow....

MILWAUKEE (Reuters) – Wisconsin, one of two states in the nation that prohibits citizens from carrying a concealed weapon, is expected to reverse this law during the upcoming state legislative session despite shootings in Arizona that highlighted lax U.S. gun laws.

Only Illinois and Wisconsin forbid carrying concealed weapons. A Republican was elected governor and Republicans won majorities in both houses of the Wisconsin legislature in November, bringing many more supporters of gun rights to the state government.

"You're going to see a concealed carry bill pass the Legislature, I have no doubt," said Chris Danou, a Democratic legislator from Trempealeau, Wisconsin. "The question is what kind of bill it's going to be."

Guns are a big part of Wisconsin culture as hunting is popular in the state, which has vast areas of forest and agricultural land. But it has traditionally restricted gun ownership and carrying weapons.

Twice in recent years the Wisconsin legislature passed a law allowing concealed carry but Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle vetoed it. Doyle left office this month and was succeeded by Republican Scott Walker.

Walker said last week that he expects a concealed carry bill to emerge as early as spring, after the legislature tackles more pressing issues such as job growth and the budget, and that he will sign the bill.

Good. I hope they reciprocate with Indiana

wildchild 01-17-2011 04:15 PM

we're hoping. judging by the number of people buying handguns and clogging ranges many believe it will happen.

Gas Man 01-18-2011 09:39 AM

Bout freakin time. I honestly think that it is completely stupid that I can't own a gun and carry it where ever I f'in please. It's my F'in constitutional right.

You can carry as long as you apply and have a reason and a background check, or are buds with the Sheriff, lol

Haven't heard of any locked up and under your bed thing. Hell, you don't even need to register most types of guns in CA.

z06boy 01-19-2011 08:33 AM

I ordered a couple of things from Cali just last night...before they are banned or all gone...

michigan is about to repeal the stupid "pistol free zones" so you can carry anywhere which is how it should be.. if you are a law abiding citizen you should be able to carry anywhere you fucking want to and if some low life piece of shit motherfucker who can't stop sucking the glass dick for 5 seconds and hasn't worked a day in his pathetic useless existence tries to step up you should be authorized to use ANY FORCE necessary to take that motherfucker out.. the world would be a much better place with less scumbags, less prisons (kill those that can't be "rehabilitated" - fuck trial, fuck all that bullshit - shoot them, fry them, put them in a burlap sack and throw them in the ocean - I don't care but don't make me pay $80,000 a year for each one so they can learn new crimes)..

Of course you realize that prisons are a for-profit industry that is heavily involved in making sure they can continue to lock up millions of people right?

Don't think that holds any truth at all.

And it will get even worse, as the government apparently thinks it's ok to privatize the use of armed enforcement around the world

Yup yup, if we make it long enough we'll see privatized law enforcement on the streets.

I'm pretty sure 101 was being sarcastic.

He does highlight the issue of places where concealed carry is legal with a permit, but the permit is pretty much impossible to get. While Illinois and Wisconsin my be the only places where it is a legal impossibility to carry concealed, try and get a carry permit issued in NYC and I'll bet it is a factual impossibility.

 The quality of person who will become a cop won't be any different than it is now. I think the big difference will be in the actual number of cops on the street. Of course, its safe to assume there will be serious quotas and such too.

Exactly.. it's my constitutional right to carry my gun. Gun laws do nothing but restrict the honest law abidding citizens. Doesnt effect the criminal.
