The Slip-On Thread

Alright, time for a little slip on madness. :rockout:

What slip-on/system is on your current bike?
What slip-ons/systems have you used in the past?
What pipe do you think sounds the best?
What pipe do you think sounds like crap?

Soooo, I have a Yosh, RS3 I believe. It came on the bike. Not too bad.

I've honestly liked the sound of D&D pipes in the past. Not a big fan of Two Brothers pipes.

tached1000rr 03-28-2009 01:09 PM

I have a scorpion on mine

Mrs. Colleen 03-28-2009 01:28 PM

I have a Yosh...race version. :panic: It was on my bike when I bought it. If it were my choice I would not have one that loud but I am not going to spend the $$$ to change it.

SHADEE 03-28-2009 01:33 PM

Jardine GP - 1 on my GSXR
That thing is loud and I love it.

Dave 03-28-2009 01:34 PM

954 = D&D
hurricane = yosh
450 = cut stockers

best sounding pipes?
for screamer I4s i like racefit
triples, jardine
p twins, D&D
vtwins, whatever

t-homo 03-28-2009 01:41 PM

I've got a Hindle full system on my R1. I like the sound of it a ton, but wish it was louder.

How much louder would it get by cutting it down?

Tmall 03-28-2009 01:48 PM

Unless I get fucked over, ill have a drummer SS in the mail this week.

Mr Lefty 03-28-2009 03:05 PM

exhausts systems vary from bike to bike as far as sound and performance... one brand will sound and perform different on different motors and brands.

that being said... I'm gonna go with the Akro Hex slipon... as Trip's already done the research for me... and I like the sound and fit of his.

gonna order it when I get back from San Antonio

MikeSP1 03-28-2009 03:12 PM

VTX has Vance and Hines long shots and I really like the sound of them.

The RC has stock headers with Scorpion mids and cans. This one will be getting a full titanium system from K-factory upon my return to Japan.

Can I add that I love the sound of a twin?

JoJoYZF 03-28-2009 03:34 PM

Mine has had a yoshi pipe on it since the day I bought it. Like the sound, just dont like the dents in it from when I dropped the bike.

Rangerscott 03-28-2009 04:11 PM

Scorpion for me.

Or I'll just ride without a can. LOL

Currently....Drummer Original

Past...Vance and Hines SS2R full.

The Drummer is UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. Sound is incredible. Love it.

itgirl 03-28-2009 05:08 PM

i have muzzy on my 636 and V&H sideshots on my nightster.

rogue 03-28-2009 05:23 PM

I have a Yoshi Tri-Oval Titanium on my SV. :)

Dnyce 03-28-2009 05:53 PM

ive had a yana shiki, a yosh trs, and a yosh rs3 on the 750. yana shiki sounds the best of those three to me, trs was too quiet, rs3 was a slightly different tone than the yana shiki, but just as loud. the busa has completely gutted stock cans, sounds really badass. my kawi has always had a open megaphone, no muffler.

other than a daytona 675 with shark pipes, that sounds the best overall to me. just cant tolerate it very long lol

Yamerhaw 03-28-2009 06:30 PM

I have a carbon fiber Yosh right now, and have had Yosh on the past several bikes, but i've had SO many bikes, i dont remember all the pipes i've had on the, i like Yosh and Akro, dont like scorpion, micron, d+d, though i did like a D+D i had on the first R1, since it still had the ex-up in the exhaust , it wasnt mind blowing loud

probably stick with Yosh in the future, or try Akro

You don't have hindle on anything??

R1up0n1 03-28-2009 07:03 PM

Hmm lets see here...
04 R1 - CF GYTR - Awesome
03 R1 - Leo Vince SBK - it sounded good but not the best
00 SV650 - Yoshi RS3 full race - Sounded bad ass! Loved the sound with that V-twin.
95 Intruder - Still stock and not sure if I'll change it or not.

The worst fuckin sounding slip-on is D&D

BobTheBiker 03-28-2009 07:28 PM

I currently have kerker system K slipons on stock headers on my ZX1000A1, though I may swap over to my ANCIENT ASS yoshi system when I finally figure out how to jet it properly.

Sixxxxer 03-28-2009 08:32 PM

Stock exhaust still but Im gonna go with the Motowrks MotoGP Exhaust.

Lucky3623 03-28-2009 08:42 PM

Stock header (for now)
Akrapovic Megaphone slip-on
PCIII

Cutty72 03-28-2009 10:18 PM

Like someone mentioned, all exhausts are not equal.
The same slip on will sound different on different bikes, so it's not a matter of just the slip on, but rather the slip on for that specific bike.

I have a full race RS3 CF on the SV and love it. Great bark, louder than the Buell.

1125 I have nothing... yet...

rogue 03-28-2009 10:33 PM

I forgot....

When we had the 02 GSXR 1000 we had a Micron high mount slip on and that sounded really sweet on her.

Porkchop 03-28-2009 10:44 PM

I havn't really gotten to crack my bike open on the road yet, so I really dont know how the Yosh sounds. I really like matt's Scorpion on his R6...

In a parking garage it does sound really sweet. Underpasses too. Not that I'm one for revving while rolling through them...

I've only heard one bike (I think gsxr not sure on cc) with a D&D and it sounded like pure shit coming out of the pipe. The guy was so proud to have to loudest most annoying sounding bike in the group.

brand new hindle is in the box, on its way to getting ceramic coated. but its not a slipon, its the full system. but it will be mounted upon its return, most definitely

t-homo 03-29-2009 12:42 AM

Which version did you get? The stealth? I've been considering cutting mine about 1/3 of the way down since its fucking huge and too quiet for me.

Dave 03-29-2009 01:19 AM

D&Ds pipes for triumph make me seriously want to drop coin on a thruxton. well, id wanna drop coin on one anyway...but these make it almost unbearably attractive

16inch supersport

supersport has a 2 inch core, the stealth has a 2inch core that tapers to 1.75 inches. im guessing you got the stealth, the supersport is supposed to be decently loud n throaty. for the full systems they're universal, the work it would take to cut it down and re--do it, might as well buy a new one on ebay for 100bucks. then sell the old one and get some cash back

t-homo 03-29-2009 03:50 AM

Mine is throaty as shit, but not overly loud.

Dnyce 03-29-2009 12:00 PM

well look in it-if its a straight shot, u got a supersport muff, if it tapers, u got a stealth. if u do actually have a supersport muff, just chop that bitch up. look thru hindles site, they were having a sale on mostly yamaha stuff, some muffs had a 2.25 inch core

Sounds like a common thread among D&D owners.

I'd say if you want it louder, then go for the supersport.

My hubby had one on his 2000 ZX9 and sounds freaking awesome! If I knew one would sound that good on my bike I would have had it yesterday.

I had a Muzzy full system on my 250 Ninja. It sounded like a hopped up lawn mower! LOL.

Stock pipe on my bike now. I used to want the Arata, but they are super expensive and don't sound all that great (finally heard a sound clip). I need a new car first.

almost wish i put mine on already instead of getting it ceramic coated

Rider 03-31-2009 09:03 AM

I loved the sound of my Two Brothers. You cant go wrong with Akrapovic or Yoshimura. If they make them for your bike you might want to check out the KR Tuned exhaust. I wouldn't put a Muzzy on your bike and D&D's sound like shit.

t-homo 03-31-2009 09:52 AM

haha how long do you have till that'll be done and it'll be on the bike?

z06boy 03-31-2009 10:54 AM

The R6 still has the stock pipe for now.

The R1 has MJS Motorsports exhaust which are basically stock pipes but they were gutted and repacked using race baffles and different packing and then wrapped in carbon fiber with the outside ceramic coated. The Y-pipe had the cats gutted and also were ceramic coated.

They sound pretty good imho and are louder than stock and the heat they were producing has been greatly reduced.

They produce a little more HP than stock as well.

Similar to this but this isn't me or my bike.

I heard a KR Tuned and it was nice, but very pricey!

I have a preference for Leo Vince, but had to go with Remus on the Beemer because Leo didn't make any for it. Of course the RS125 takes the Tyga exhaust.

Here's my Arrows which came on a boat from Italy. Not really a slip-on, but they made a slip-on just like it...
