We used to play that club all the time (Tuesdays through Sundays), and I never managed to drag my ass out on a Monday to see him.
The man was a genius, and a true innovator. Committed to his craft like no one else. When a car accident broke his elbow, and he was told he would have to have it set solidly in one position, he chose to have it set "bent", so that he could still play the guitar. That's true grit.
