Saying that socialized medicine has resulted in this breakthrough may be inaccurate, but it still stands that this is the sort of thing that the detractors to universal health care say would never happen under such a system. It's just another in a long line of medical discoveries for Canadians.
*EDIT* It took me about ten seconds to find that the B.C. Cancer Agency is an agency of the British Columbia Health Services Agency, making it part of the government health care network.
