I dunno... If the vote was taken in secret, then yeah, they probably weren't trying to cause any problems... If they knew about the vote beforehand, the writting is on the way... I mean, if something like that has to go to a vote... even if it ends up in your favor, it's not really a place you should want to be. Fuck that shit.
It just makes me think of those situations where it's a little more obvious... people aren't tolerant of me, so I'm going to force it down their throats...
