Perhaps it's my weak understanding of maritime law, but why the hell did they sink that boat instead of whoever found it claiming it as salvage? Seems like an awful waste.  |
IIRC, a Canadian fishing boat tried to claim salvage, but gave up when the ship couldn't be piloted under its own power and was too large to be towed by the smaller fishing boat. It was pretty badly damaged and had apparently become a liability. There was a pretty in-depth article on it a while back.
