it's not the source of your problem, but stop filling up w/ premium. Just cuz it's more expensive doesn't mean it's better for the bike, it just means it has more additives in it to raise the octane level, which is only needed for high compression engines prone to detonation.
Check your owners manual for the recommended octane & use that (or whatever's available w/o going below the recommended). Anything "better" is nothing but a waste of money. Also, GENERALLY the "cheaper" fuels get changed out more often because more people use them, which means there's less of a chance for condensation to build up in the bottom of the holding tank.

I concur with this 1000%. higher octane doesnt=higher performance or better power output in a bike unless you've got a turbo or your bike specifies you need premium. I run regular 87 unleaded in my cage, my bike, and everything I own without a single issue.
premium wont give a bike more power, clean it out, etc. in a bike that specifies regular unleaded is what you need, you're really just burning money and not much else honestly. |

Most power will be had with the lowest octane that doesn't cause knocking.

Ahhh... I'm so glad I brought that up
Not because I don't think most of us already know this stuff, but because I think this marks the one billionth internet discussion about octane!!!Do we all get a prize? I hope we do

You get the FAIL prize since an R6S has 12.4:1 compression and requires premium fuel. Now back to our regularly scheduled program. |

Now I know Michelle has been riding for quite a few years, is a really smart girl, and should know that she needs premium in her bike, but what if she wasn't sure? Just because you love to jump on the octane bandwagon without checking to see if someone needs it or not is just reckless. If she did folow your advice and started running 87 octane in her 12.4:1 motor she's gonna have a lot more problems besides a little water or trash in her gas. Rebuilding motor's isn't cheap so you should reserve your infinite wisdom internetz advice for when you know you're right or maybe just for your close friends. As it is, I'm gonna make sure my close friends don't follow stupid advice from anyone with a keyboard. Ok,
