I'm more concerned with the harm factor, and back to the original point....what is the actual harm in a 16 year old boy getting blown by his hot teacher?

Apparently one year is, but only when the other party is over 21 in New York. I agree that "ready" is subjective and individualistic but so is the actual harm to the 16 year old boy. Focusing only on boys is useless as well. Whatever age is selected must apply to boys and girls.

I have no idea, and in this situation she didn't commit statutory rape anyway. A line has to be drawn and it does create a situation where one day someone is a kid and having sex with them will get an adult sent to jail while the next day it is legal. What remains is this teacher knew exactly what the consequences were and risked it anyway.
