How are the names going to be made public anyway? The election board might use them for verification purposes, but other than that, how would the general public get access to them? It isn't like they are published in a newspaper or website for all to see.

Yeah, if its public then anyone can get their hands on it eventually. I think this is a good decision, if you're willing to sign your name to a cause you should be willing to stand by it.

Absolutely agree... that's the whole point of signing your name correct? You believe in it enough to sign your name to it...

Are you comfortable with having all your beliefs publically known?

What about your votes, should those be revealed as well?

Absolutely.

The entire point of the First amendment is that you are free to state your beliefs.
Thats why the framers never thought to include a right to privacy. Why the hell would we need that if we clearly state that you can say what you believe without fear.

Votes are secret because of things like intimidation.

Votes and signatures are both expressions of political choice. Both might invite intimidation/retaliation.

Sure... anyone who's ever met me knows I'm an open book.

99% of people will readily tell you who/what they vote for anyway.

Nobody in any kind of professional setting talks about who they voted for. Not if they have a brain, at least. Keep that shit to yourself, or else your relationships at work may suffer.

Of course, for those who work at McDonalds, none of this matters. But I don't think you work at McDonalds, do you?
