I meant personal/sensitive to you, not to your employer.

What sort of skeletons do you fuckers have in your closet?
I have a foul mouth, a sick sense of humor, look at porn, and have had my fair share of illegal substances flow through my veins... I couldn't see ANY of that hindering my ability to get a job. I've sat in more than enough meetings with corporate executives who were dropping f-bombs, talking about the hot secretary, and making inappropriate jokes to know that it doesn't fucking matter. If you don't have a criminal record, can pass a drug test *now*, and have the skills/education/experience required for the position, you're hired. I don't plan on working with children... fucking hate 'em. I don't plan on working in the public sector in any capacity that would warrant anyone even contemplating going that far to find out about me. It's one thing for a recruiter to jump on Facebook to find out a bit about a person, it's another for them to go out and buy data on text messaging and internet usage. Again, I got nothing to hide. |

Now, if it's a blue-collar business, or a small internet startup full of 20-somethings, things would be different.........But I'm talking large Fortune 500 type environments. Last edited by Homeslice; 08-03-2010 at 04:59 PM.. |

Like OSP described - when we are dealing within our own company. When we are dealing with customers, it is like you described.

Depends on the customer... if you have a good relationship with a customer/client it can be a free for all. It also depends on what department you are talking about... HR - gotta watch it... Sales - 'fuck you too buddy!' |

Maybe outside work, or behind closed doors (which I already said). But you get a CEO of a large company on TV or in a large meeting, and they're not going to be swearing or telling dirty jokes. They have to be polished or else they never would have gotten where they are. Especially if it's a public company, where he could be eliminated in the blink of an eye.

Some of the most high up and successful people I have ever worked with or for, were some of the most uncouth disgusting assholes who ever walked the planet. Their public "client" face may have been polished and professional, but as far as in the office, including not behind closed doors, with the folks they worked with, it was no holds barred. Behavior, language, etc only matter with the clients, and they can treat everyone else like crap or speak to people in whatever way they want. After all, who's going to believe an employee over a CEO? |

Face to face only. I don't like talking on the phone or emailing. If it's something that important to me then it doesnt get broadcasted.
